Wedding Tips: Booking the Perfect Band for Your Big Day.

Planning your wedding entertainment can be one of the most exciting parts of organizing your big day.  Live Music adds energy, charm, and unforgettable moments to your special day.  To make sure everything goes smoothly, here are some expert tips to help you book your dream wedding band.

Book Early to Secure Your Date.

Popular wedding bands often get booked up well in advance, especially for peak dates. As soon as you’ve chosen your wedding date, reach out to potential bands to check their availability.

Match the Band to Your Wedding Style.

Whether you're planning an elegant black-tie affair or a rustic outdoor celebration, choose a band that complements the vibe of your wedding.  Jazz or classical musicians create sophistication, while lively party bands bring energy to the dance floor.

Discuss Package Options.

Think about when you want live music during your wedding.  A band for the evening reception is a classic choice, but live music during the ceremony or cocktail hour can also be magical. Most bands offer package deals to include music for day and evening performances.

Ask About Special Requests.

Many bands have a repertoire of crowd-pleasers, but it’s worth asking if they’ll play your favourite songs or learn a special track for your first dance. Great bands are flexible and happy to tailor their setlist to your tastes or event theme.

Check Reviews and Testimonials.

Take a look at reviews or ask for references from past clients. A reputable band will have glowing feedback about their professionalism and ability to create an unforgettable atmosphere.

Check for Noise Limiters.

Noise limiters can significantly impact the sound quality and performance of a live band.  These devices can automatically cut power if the music exceeds a set decibel level, which can interrupt the flow of your celebration.

Before booking your band, confirm with your venue if they have a noise limiter, what the threshold is, and whether the band can work within those restrictions.  Many professional bands have experience with these devices and can adjust their setup to comply while still delivering a fantastic performance.

Frequently Asked Questions

Pop us a message if we’ve missed anything.

  • An accessible power supply is essential as we use several pieces of electrical equipment. Other than this, we are self-contained and will bring all of our own equipment including PA and lighting for both band and dance floor. To keep their energy levels up the band will require soft drinks throughout the performance, and for evening performances, a hot and healthy meal for each band member.

  • Our party bands usually perform two 50 minute sets for an evening wedding reception. We can play a third set if required - just let us know when making your enquiry if this would be of interest.

For corporate events or festivals, one longer set is often more fitting- please mention when enquiring and we’ll plan accordingly.

  • Our system is available to play recorded music prior to the band’s set, through their break, and 30 minutes after the band’s finish time.

You can use a tablet, phone, or laptop with Spotify or similar to play your playlists through our PA.

Musicians will pack down and leave with their equipment when the live music has finished.

We can stay later if required - please mention when booking and we'll plan accordingly.

  • Yes, absolutely. Please get in touch for advice on song choice - We’ll try most things, but will only agree if we can do a good job of your song choice.

  • Yes, this is something we do regularly.

Please get in touch and let us know your requirements. You may prefer to have a smaller group perform earlier in the day (i.e. a duo or jazz quartet) and have the rest of the band arrive in the evening.

  • Any suggestions you have are welcome, and we’re happy for you to take a look through our listed repertoire and point out your favourites.

However, we never agree set lists in advance because, in our experience, choosing the perfect songs depends on judging the atmosphere of the event, and the mood of the crowd, on the night. You can trust us – this is what we do!

  • Our instruments and equipment are the personal property of the band members and are valuable – not only in terms of their cost, but also because we rely on them to make our living. For that reason, it is always our policy not to let anyone else use them.

Singing with the band may be possible - Let us know what you're thinking, and we'll advise.

  • This depends on the size of the group you choose, but is usually less than people expect - we are adept at fitting into unusual spaces.

    Our eight-piece band requires a space of approximately 6m wide x 4m deep. The five-piece roughly 4m wide x 3m deep.

We can play outside, but will need to be under cover in case of rain as our equipment is easily damaged, and access to power must be available.

  • It usually takes us between 50 and 60 minutes to set up, and we aim to arrive at least 90 minutes before the performance.

We can, however, arrive earlier if required.

Setting up in the morning / day prior is most often not possible.

  • Yes.

Our equipment is also P.A.T tested.

  • Nearly all of our gigs are weddings and private functions, so unfortunately this is not usually possible. Details of any public events, however, can be found on the Gigs page - Follow us on Facebook or Instagrm, or sign up to our mailing list, to keep informed of public events.

  • No. If one of the band members is taken ill, we have plenty of musicians rehearsed ready to step in if required.

  • We’re based over Shrosphire, Cheshire, and Greater Manchester. We perform throughout the Midlands & Northwest, but travel UK wide.

  • We require a deposit of 25% to confirm a booking, with the balance due ten working days prior to the event date.

  • We're flexible and will collaborate with your event planners to ensure everything runs smoothly. Here's a suggested schedule for an evening wedding reception, with two sets from the band -

    1730 - Band arrive

    1800 - Set up & sound check

1900 - Band clear. playlist on.

    2000 - Cake -> First Dance -> Band set 1

    2100 - Evening food & playlist / DJ

    2200 - Band set 2

    2300 - DJ / playlist

    0000 - Home time.

  • Reach out to us to discuss your event needs, check our availability, and see if we’re the right fit. We’ll use a Google form to confirm details, and finalize the booking with a digital contract and deposit via BACs. Once that’s done, I’ll book the band, and we’re all set!
